Aiven builds an AI-ready, open source data platform for production applications and AI agents, delivering fully managed data infrastructure services across a single control plane. The Aiven Managed Data Platform brings streaming, transactional databases, analytics, search, caching, data context and application runtime together, while Aiven handles patching, scaling, security, monitoring and uptime. The company positions itself around genuine open source technologies, open standards and portable data formats, aiming to avoid vendor lock-in.
The managed service portfolio covers widely adopted open source technologies, including Apache Kafka for streaming, PostgreSQL and MySQL for transactional workloads, ClickHouse for analytics, OpenSearch for search and Valkey for caching. Vector search is available through pgvector for embedding and AI workloads. Two newer products extend the platform towards AI use cases: Aiven DataHub, a governed agent context service for supplying data context to AI agents, and Aiven Runtime, for running applications and agents alongside their data.
Deployments are available on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, sovereign clouds or a customer's own cloud accounts. Aiven serves customers in more than 60 countries, from startups to global enterprises, across production application and AI/ML workloads. The company was founded in Finland, is headquartered in Helsinki and operates with a globally distributed team.
