Founded during UNFCCC COP23 in 2017, the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) emerged from a critical observation: the rapidly evolving landscape of digital technologies represented both an unprecedented opportunity and a complex challenge for global climate action. Through sustained engagement with UNFCCC bodies, ISO technical committees, and national governments, BCI ensures that emerging digital technologies are deployable, finance-ready, and aligned with international climate objectives. The Institute has supported over 70 national governments through capacity building programs, delivered 25+ climate innovation projects, and maintains liaison representations across multiple ISO technical committees, translating cutting-edge technology into measurable, accountable climate outcomes.
