Arrowhead Game Studios is a Swedish video game developer based in Stockholm, working from newly renovated offices in Södermalm, the city's game development district. Founded in 2008 by students at Luleå University of Technology, the studio employs roughly 158 people and concentrates on cooperative multiplayer game design, game world-building, and game audio and music.
The studio's catalogue includes Magicka, The Showdown Effect, Gauntlet and the Helldivers series. Its most recent title, Helldivers 2, launched on PlayStation 5 and PC and won multiple industry awards, among them BAFTAs for Best Multiplayer and Best Music. Technical work spans video game development across PC and console platforms.
Arrowhead describes its focus as creating memorable, intensely thrilling and hilarious cooperative experiences. Its stated design values are Believability, Sociality and Playfulness, applied to world-building, the connections formed between players, and play systems that encourage creativity and improvised mishaps. The studio's motto - "A game for everyone is a game for no one" - reflects a preference for focused, distinctive games over mass appeal.
