Augustus is building the Global Dollar Bank, a modern clearing bank intended to give international fintechs and banks access to dollars. The company describes the venture as a clearing bank for the AI era, constructed around programmable money and stablecoins, and is currently building out its US operations. It has received conditional approval for a US National Bank Charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), making it the eighth company to receive such approval since 2010.
Alongside its US build-out, Augustus runs euro and stablecoin clearing operations for global financial institutions in Europe, where the business is live and growing. The company reports processing billions for institutional customers, among them Kraken. Its technical work spans open banking, stablecoin infrastructure, programmable money, payment clearing, merchant checkout and the clearing of both digital assets and fiat currency. It operates in the United States and Europe, serving the banking, fintech, digital asset and payments sectors.
The company began as Ivy, a merchant checkout product built on open banking. Integrations with platforms including Mollie, Kraken and Circle drew it towards institutional flows, stablecoins and dollar infrastructure, and it later rebranded as Augustus. The business is regulated-first in approach, pursuing a US national bank charter through the OCC while continuing to grow in Europe.
