BPI (Building Plastics, Inc.) is a wholesale distributor of floor covering and decorative surfaces, founded in 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee. The company serves more than 5,850 active customers and represents the top vendors and manufacturers in the flooring industry. It is the second largest floor covering distributor in the United States and the largest in the Southeast region.
Operations run on a substantial physical infrastructure: over 854,000 square feet of warehouse space holding approximately $40 million in inventory, spread across 12 locations in 11 states. Distribution is supported by 41 delivery trucks, 81 trailers and more than 300 weekly delivery routes. Technical work at BPI concentrates on logistics and delivery operations and on warehouse and inventory management at this scale. Two of its founding product lines, Formica Brand Laminate and Kentile Vinyl Plastic Floors, remain part of its history; the company has grown from an eight-employee operation in a 7,500-square-foot warehouse to its present size.
BPI employs 450 associates and is an employee-owned company. Its stated approach emphasises quality products, service and value, attention to customer needs, and the adoption of current trends and technology in the flooring industry.
