Cardboard is an AI-powered video editing platform that runs in the browser and on Mac. Users upload raw footage and describe the edits they want in plain English; an agentic AI then produces a polished first cut within minutes, handling cuts, captions, reframing and composition. The resulting edit can be refined either through chat or by direct timeline adjustments.
The product comprises a full video editor, a cloud media processing pipeline and an AI agent that understands the content of the footage. Alongside editing, Cardboard includes generative media tools that produce video, images, music and sound effects from prompts, clone voices for narration, and source relevant B-roll from the internet. Integrations with Claude Code and Codex allow users to work through their own AI agents as well as directly in Cardboard.
The platform is aimed at users without extensive editing expertise and is positioned as an alternative to complex editing software and agencies. Its technical work spans agentic AI, natural language processing, video editing automation, content understanding of footage, generative AI, voice cloning and speech synthesis. The company targets marketing, growth and demand generation, content creation and video production use cases.
