Common Sense Machines (CSM) is an AI company founded in 2020 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It develops a generative AI platform that converts 2D assets - images, videos and sketches - into fully textured, production-ready 3D models. Generation modes include image-to-3D, text-to-3D and sketch-to-3D, targeting the gaming, AR/VR and digital content creation industries.
The company's technical work spans generative AI, 3D content generation, 3D reconstruction, computer vision and 3D mesh generation. Its platform uses inference-time computation to reason about and predict 3D parts at arbitrary resolution. CSM states that its output is game-ready, with mesh quality of a high standard.
CSM is a seed-stage, venture-backed startup. It was founded by a team from MIT, with team members who have roots at DeepMind. Between them, team members have founded three companies with successful exits.
