Flagship Pioneering is a Cambridge-based life sciences enterprise founded in 2000 by Noubar Afeyan. Its model sits at the intersection of scientific research, company creation, and venture capital: rather than investing in existing businesses, it originates new companies from scratch, typically beginning with speculative scientific questions and using rigorous research to determine whether they warrant building an entirely new organisation around them.
