Human Technopole is Italy's next-generation life sciences research institute, created and supported by the Italian government. It conducts fundamental and applied research on human health and disease prevention across seven scales - molecular, cellular, genomic, structural, computational, population and clinical - and is based at Palazzo Italia in the MIND innovation district in Milan.
The institute's technical work spans genomics, neurogenomics, structural biology, computational biology, health data science, molecular cell biology, artificial intelligence, genome engineering, disease modelling, light imaging, and data handling and analysis. Six research centres cover genomics, neurogenomics, structural biology, computational biology, health data science and molecular cell biology, combining experimental research with computational methods and AI. These are supported by five national facilities in genomics, genome engineering and disease modelling, structural biology, light imaging, and data handling and analysis.
Human Technopole works in multidisciplinary teams and collaborates openly with academic, clinical and industrial partners. Training programmes connect scientific discovery with the development and dissemination of health technologies, and a dedicated Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer supports innovation and technology transfer.
