The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) is a technical organisation founded in 1979 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Its core mission is to monitor and evaluate safety standards - including those for management, quality assurance, and operating procedures - at nuclear power facilities. INPO supports more than 100 commercial nuclear reactors operated by over 20 utilities across North America, China, Romania, South Africa, and the UAE.
INPO's work spans several technical domains: nuclear safety and reliability, operating experience data analysis, and nuclear training and leadership development. The organisation maintains the industry's largest repository of operating experience data, which its data scientists analyse to uncover relevant trends. It also operates the National Academy for Nuclear Training (NANT), which provides accredited training and leadership development programmes for plant staff and leaders.
