Kirtland Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1958 out of Kirtland Air Force Base, it was established to serve military personnel, and its stated mission remains serving the military community and organisations that support national defence. The institution holds over $1.1 billion in total assets and serves more than 52,000 members through nine branches in the Albuquerque area, with additional locations in Rio Rancho and Los Lunas and on Kirtland Air Force Base.
The member-facing product set spans several distinct lending and deposit domains: checking and savings accounts, home mortgages, auto loans, home equity loans, credit cards, and investment services delivered through Kirtland Financial Services. Together these cover consumer banking, mortgage lending, auto and consumer lending, investment services and financial education - the areas in which the credit union operates.
As a cooperative, Kirtland Credit Union is owned by its members rather than outside shareholders, and it describes its philosophy as prioritising members' financial well-being over profit. It attributes competitive loan and savings rates to this model, and emphasises personalised service and financial education resources for members at every stage of their financial journey. The stated aim of its financial solutions is to help members achieve financial independence.
