LabAnswer was a laboratory informatics consultancy that provided independent advice and delivery services for enterprise scientific data solutions. Its work covered the full lifecycle of such systems: design, build, deployment and ongoing support. The firm combined expertise in science, laboratory operations, regulatory compliance and information technology, and deliberately took a vendor-neutral stance, working with what it described as "best in breed" laboratory informatics software to assemble total solutions for clients.
Technical work centred on a set of core laboratory systems. LabAnswer delivered lifecycle services for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), Chromatography Data Systems (CDS) and Scientific Content Management Systems, alongside laboratory automation and regulatory compliance. Over its existence the firm architected, implemented, deployed or supported hundreds of major scientific informatics systems, serving more than 1,000 laboratories, and was described as the leading laboratory informatics consultancy in North America.
Client sectors spanned biotech, pharmaceuticals, bio-pharmaceuticals, medical devices, forensics, life sciences research, consumer goods, chemicals, energy, resources, government and manufacturing and quality control, together with research and development organisations across North America. LabAnswer was acquired by Accenture in July 2017; further information is available at https://labanswer.com/.
