Maincode builds purpose-trained AI models end-to-end in Australia, combining research with engineering to create intelligent systems that amplify human capability. The company's technical work spans AI-native user experiences, multi-agent systems, human-computer interactions, and intelligence augmentation. It is based in Melbourne and has invested $30 million in an AI factory.
Among its products is Matilda, described as Australia's first native-made language model trained entirely on local infrastructure using Australian data. The company also developed Maincoder, a compact one-billion parameter code-generation model that scores 76 per cent on the HumanEval test of functional code correctness, achieving performance comparable to much larger models on industry benchmarks.
