In 2011, our founders realized something troubling: while technology was advancing at breakneck speed, digital documents were stuck in the past. Documents had become the foundational medium for exchanging knowledge in business, yet they remained frozen in time - handling use cases from the 1990s and early 2000s, creating a maze of complexity that businesses and developers had to navigate alone. Our founders wondered: what if this complexity could be made easier? What if developers had the tools to deliver seamless and secure document experiences everywhere they built apps?
That spark led to PSPDFKit, and through years of growth - including strategic acquisitions of Aquaforest, ORPALIS, Muhimbi, and Integrify - the company evolved into what is now Nutrient. We chose the name Nutrient because our products serve as foundational building blocks that developers and businesses use to enhance, protect, and repair their document ecosystems, much like macronutrients do for a healthy body. Today, we're on a mission to evolve how humans experience documents, empowering thousands of organizations across 80 countries to transform static files into intelligent, dynamic, and secure workflows.
