Oishii is a farming company that grows premium Japanese strawberries through indoor vertical farming, combining time-honoured Japanese growing techniques with modern technology. The company's remit spans agricultural robotics, artificial intelligence, data analytics and controlled-environment agriculture - disciplines applied together to bring Japanese fruit culture to the United States.
The company operates the world's largest indoor vertical strawberry farm and, in the United States, runs the first indoor vertical strawberry farm for strawberries. Its systems analyse over 60 billion datapoints annually through advanced robotics and AI. The growing environment is engineered to replicate natural conditions - soft rain, mild heat, warm light and bees - while eliminating the need for all pesticides. Produce is Non-GMO Project Verified and available year-round.
Oishii's first product, the Omakase Berry, is a Japanese strawberry variety grown from seeds brought from the Japanese Alps to New York. It debuted at some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants and is sold into high-end dining and fresh produce retail. The company is based in New York and was founded by Co-Founder and CEO Hiroki Koga, who grew up in Japan. Its stated approach values quality over quantity and the health of plants through rigorous farming practice, with a mission to revolutionise agriculture and bring Japanese fruit culture to America.
