$60-$120 per hour equivalent, paid per accepted task
100% remote
Part-time, about 15 hours a week
The teams building machine learning systems need applied scientists who can create realistic engineering tasks, judge whether model work is correct and efficient, write strong Python implementations, and explain exactly where a result falls short. This remote contractor work applies your machine learning expertise to AI evaluation.
What you'll do
- Create realistic machine learning tasks involving model development, data pipelines, numerical methods and inference systems
- Review model implementations and training workflows for correctness, performance and reproducibility
- Write expert solutions in Python, including model components, evaluation logic and command-line workflows
- Investigate numerical and system failures, then explain clearly why an AI coding result did not meet requirements
Who this is for
- A PhD or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, statistics or engineering
- Strong machine learning experience and practical Python proficiency
- Fluent English
- Helpful experience with PyTorch, JAX, NumPy, SciPy, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp, tokenizers or transformers
