Phonely, founded in 2023 and backed by Y Combinator, develops conversational voice AI agents for high-volume phone workflows. The company's technology is used to qualify sales leads, book appointments, route calls, and resolve customer service conversations. It reports serving over 10,000 customers and handling more than 120,000 calls per day.
Central to its product stack is Alma, a proprietary language model trained on more than 10 million real phone conversations. Alma is designed for voice AI applications and achieves a latency of 182ms to the first token. Phonely's systems support near-human conversational quality across over 100 languages and claim to deliver a reduction of more than 70% in operational costs for clients.
The company raised $16 million in a Series A funding round. It has offices in San Francisco, California, and Melbourne, Australia, with a co-founder structure spanning both locations. Phonely's founders are PhD researchers, and its customer base includes Fortune 500 companies.
