The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency created through an interstate compact between the two states. It operates the transportation infrastructure that connects the New York and New Jersey region, spanning air, land, rail and sea. Its portfolio comprises five airports - John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Stewart International Airport and Teterboro Airport - together with the Port Newark–Elizabeth Marine Terminal, which ranks among the largest ports in the United States, the PATH rail system, regional bridges and tunnels, and bus terminals.
The agency develops and modernizes the port district through sustained capital program investment. Technical work spans transportation infrastructure, aviation infrastructure, marine terminal operations, rail transit, bridge and tunnel operations, and bus terminal operations, alongside airport redevelopment, security and customer service programmes. Engineering and technology roles are engaged with systems supporting freight movement by sea, commuter travel and regional commerce across the New York and New Jersey port district.
With operations covering four modes of transportation and a footprint across both states, the Port Authority's work is directed at modernizing regional transportation infrastructure at scale. Further information is available at panynj.gov.
