Redwood Credit Union

About

Redwood Credit Union is a full-service, not-for-profit financial cooperative serving nearly 500,000 members throughout California's North Bay and San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1950 as Sonoma County Employees Credit Union by seven county employees, RCU has grown to become the 27th largest credit union in the United States out of approximately 4,255 credit unions nationwide. As a member-owned cooperative, RCU returns earnings to members through better rates, fewer fees, and enhanced services rather than generating profits for shareholders.

RCU's comprehensive product offerings include personal and business checking accounts, savings and money market accounts, mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, investment services, and insurance. Beyond traditional banking, the credit union operates the RCU Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supporting financial literacy, affordable housing, disaster relief, and small business development. Under the leadership of President and CEO Brett Martinez since 2004, Redwood Credit Union has consistently received top industry recognition, including 5-star ratings from Bauer Financial and recognition as one of America's Best Credit Unions by Newsweek and Forbes.

Boeing Employees' Credit Union

BECU exists to improve the financial well-being of its members and communities. Founded in 1935 by a small group of Boeing employees who pooled their resources - starting with just $9 and a $2.50 loan to help a coworker buy tools - BECU has grown from those humble beginnings into one of the nation's leading credit unions, now serving over 1.5 million members with more than $30 billion in managed assets. Headquartered in Tukwila, Washington, BECU operates as a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative guided by the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." As a cooperative, every member is an owner, which means BECU returns earnings to members through better rates, lower fees, and community investments rather than distributing profits to outside shareholders. BECU's commitment extends beyond traditional banking services. Through financial education programs, seminars and webinars, scholarships, community grants, and the BECU Foundation, the credit union actively works to build stronger communities and help people achieve financial health. With a focus on inclusion and empowerment, BECU fosters a culture where employees and members alike can grow and thrive. The credit union offers a full range of financial services including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, auto and home loans, investment services, trust services, and business banking - all designed to help members achieve their financial goals while making a positive impact in the communities they serve.

Redwood Materials

In 2017, JB Straubel - Tesla's co-founder and former CTO - realized something critical: the electric vehicle revolution was creating a massive battery waste problem, and the U.S. was dangerously dependent on foreign supply chains for critical materials. While still at Tesla, he saw firsthand how lithium, nickel, cobalt, and copper were extracted and processed halfway around the world, only to end up in landfills when batteries reached end-of-life. So he founded Redwood Materials with a singular vision to create a closed-loop, domestic battery supply chain that would keep these materials in circulation forever. What started as a recycling operation in a Nevada facility has evolved into something far more transformative. Today, Redwood recycles end-of-life batteries to recover up to 95% of critical minerals, then refines and manufactures those materials into new battery components - all on American soil. The company has become the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America, processing around 90% of all recycled lithium-ion batteries on the continent. Beyond recycling, Redwood now deploys large-scale energy storage systems that power data centers and the nation's grid, including a groundbreaking microgrid project using repurposed EV batteries outside Reno. With two campuses in Nevada and South Carolina, an R&D center in San Francisco, and partnerships spanning Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Panasonic, and GM, Redwood is fundamentally reshaping how the world thinks about batteries - not as disposable products, but as perpetually recyclable resources.
