In 2022, Declan Ganley founded Rivada Space Networks with a singular vision: to democratize space by building the world's first truly wholesale space network. Recognizing that existing satellite communications infrastructure was designed for yesterday's needs, Ganley and his team set out to create something fundamentally different - a network that would give enterprise and government customers complete control over their most critical data.
Rivada Space Networks is building the Outernet, a revolutionary low-Earth orbit constellation of 600 interconnected satellites that creates a global, low-latency, point-to-point connectivity network. What makes this architecture unique is its gateway-less design using inter-satellite laser links, meaning data stays in space from origin to destination without touching the ground until it reaches its intended endpoint. This approach creates an ultra-secure network with pole-to-pole coverage, offering end-to-end latencies comparable to or better than terrestrial fiber. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Rivada Networks with headquarters in Munich and a secondary office in Berlin, Rivada Space Networks brings together an international team of space industry veterans who have spent their careers expanding the boundaries of what's possible in orbit, now united in pursuit of transforming global communications infrastructure for the most demanding enterprise and government customers.
