Verne develops a commercial autonomous mobility service for European cities. The company, part of Rimac Group and based in Zagreb, describes itself as Europe's first commercial robotaxi operator, with driverless rides now available to passengers in Zagreb and Manchester listed as coming soon. Its work spans the full stack of a robotaxi business: autonomous driving systems, purpose-built vehicles, infrastructure, fleet operations and the digital passenger experience.
The technical scope is broad. Engineering teams work across autonomous driving systems, artificial intelligence, software development, vehicle engineering and design, infrastructure, manufacturing, fleet operations and service operations. Verne has designed a purpose-built vehicle integrated with the Mobileye Drive autonomous-driving platform, and has conducted fully driverless test rides with passengers on public roads in Zagreb. The company partners with technology suppliers and mobility partners including Pony.ai, Uber and Mobileye.
Verne operates with an integrated, end-to-end model rather than supplying a single layer of the stack, an approach aimed at making autonomous transportation commercially available in complex city environments. It collaborates with regulatory authorities to operate within local and European Union requirements, with operations and presence across Croatia, the United Kingdom and the wider European market.
