Walden Robotics is a full-stack Physical AI company that builds and deploys general-purpose wheeled humanoid robots for industrial factory environments at scale. Founded in 2026 as a spin-out from Toyota Research Institute, the company works across the hardware, software, AI and application layers, with an emphasis on moving robotics research into production settings.
Its robots are designed for immediate production deployment and are capable of machine tending, tool setting, parts kitting and assembly operations. The company has robots running in production at a Toyota factory in North America. Technical work spans machine learning, Large Behavior Models, Diffusion Policy, vision-language-action models and learning from demonstration.
Walden Robotics raised $300 million in seed funding and is valued at $1.1 billion. It is led by CEO Russ Tedrake, formerly SVP of Large Behavior Models at Toyota Research Institute and a professor at MIT. The company operates in North America, serving manufacturing, automotive and factory automation customers.
