American Refining Group operates the longest continuously operating oil refinery in North America, processing light sweet paraffinic crude at its Bradford, Pennsylvania facility on approximately 131 acres. The refinery has a rated capacity of 11,000 barrels per day and employs more than 340 people.
The operation comprises three major processing areas: a crude distillation tower with multiple draws, a naphtha splitter and platformer, and a lubes processing train. This infrastructure enables production of gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, naphtha, distillate solvents, lubricant base oils, and high-quality waxes. The company also manufactures specialty products under brand names including Kenwax waxes, ARGuard lubricants, Kensol solvents, and Kendex extracts and resins, alongside various industrial blends for rubber, asphalt, metalworking, and agricultural applications.
The refinery sources crude from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia. Both the packaging plant and refinery operations hold ISO 9001:2015 certification and Made in USA certification. The company traces its roots to 1881, when founders Eli Loomis, William Willis, and Robert Childs established the Bradford Oil Refinery with five employees processing ten barrels of crude per day on Kendall Creek.
