Astranis builds small, powerful satellites for high orbits using advanced digital processing technology to provide dedicated satellite broadband. The company designs, manufactures, tests, and operates its spacecraft entirely in-house from its headquarters at Historic Pier 70 in San Francisco, California.
Its primary product is the MicroGEO satellite, a compact geostationary-orbit platform intended to deliver broadband at what the company describes as the world's lowest cost. Astranis has five satellites currently on orbit and more than ten under contract, with satellite services sold valued at over $1 billion.
Technical work at the company spans satellite engineering, digital processing, radiation-hardening, and spacecraft propulsion. These domains underpin its operations in the satellite communications, broadband internet, and aerospace sectors.
