Deep Sky builds, owns, and operates the infrastructure to reverse climate change. As the world's first technology-agnostic carbon removal project developer, they are deploying gigaton-scale carbon dioxide removal (CDR) infrastructure across Canada. Founded in 2022 by Hopper co-founders Frédéric Lalonde and Joost Ouwerkerk, Deep Sky partners with leading carbon capture technology developers globally to build facilities that capture and permanently sequester CO₂ from both the atmosphere and oceans, powered entirely by renewable energy.
In August 2025, Deep Sky launched Deep Sky Alpha in Innisfail, Alberta - the world's first cross-technology carbon removal innovation center. This facility simultaneously deploys multiple Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies, collecting operational data year-round to inform the design of larger commercial projects. Backed by $40 million from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, along with strategic partnerships with Microsoft and RBC, Deep Sky is setting the industry standard for high-quality, verifiable carbon removal credits while accelerating the path to affordable, scalable carbon capture solutions.
