Meesho is an Indian e-commerce marketplace founded in 2015 that connects millions of consumers with more than 100 million small businesses and individual sellers. Its platform links four groups - consumers, sellers, logistics partners and content creators - through a multi-sided technology stack built for the volumes of a national marketplace. Sellers can open a virtual store with no upfront investment and no supplier commissions for listing products, a model intended to widen participation in internet commerce.
The company operates two products. Meesho is the marketplace itself. Valmo is an asset-light logistics platform that runs Meesho's delivery operations across India, designed for cost-efficient, scalable shipping. Technical work spans e-commerce marketplace technology, logistics technology, data science, multi-sided platform engineering and scale engineering, with product, design, data science and engineering teams working together on the same problems.
Meesho describes its mission as democratising internet commerce for everyone in India, with a particular focus on the next billion Indians encountering e-commerce for the first time. Engineering culture is described as tech-first and problem-solving oriented, prioritising speed over perfection and expecting engineers to work with a founder's mindset on problems of unprecedented scale.
