SecureBio is a biosecurity nonprofit (501(c)(3)) headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, working to secure the future against catastrophic pandemics. The organisation brings together researchers and technologists and collaborates with experts across academia, industry, and government.
Its technical work spans several domains. The Detection project aims to pioneer reliable, pathogen-agnostic early warning of future pandemics through deep, untargeted metagenomic sequencing. The SecureDNA initiative develops software for screening DNA synthesis orders to prevent misuse of biotechnology. The organisation also works on physical defenses including far-UVC technology and pandemic-proof PPE.
SecureBio additionally develops AI measurement tools to assess the potential for AI systems to contribute to global catastrophic biological risks. Their evaluations have been publicly cited in model cards from major AI companies.
