CommonLit

About

We're a nonprofit organization that started with a simple observation from our founder's time in the classroom. Michelle Brown taught in schools where she had to create her own materials, and then in schools with high-quality resources ready to use. That experience made it clear: the right tools can transform teaching, and every school deserves access to them. So we built CommonLit to be that resource for educators everywhere.

Today, we provide a comprehensive literacy program that includes a full-year ELA curriculum, benchmark assessments, and ongoing professional development. We've grown from those first 30 lessons published in 2013 to reaching over 30 million teachers and students globally. What drives us isn't growth metrics - it's knowing that when teachers have effective, research-backed materials and real support, they can create classrooms where learning is joyful and teaching is sustainable. We're proud to be an ESSA-certified program, but we're even prouder when we hear from schools about the real difference our resources make for students who need them most.

Corelight

Corelight transforms network data into definitive evidence, powering AI-driven detection and expert-authored workflows. Founded in 2013 by the creators of the Bro (now Zeek) open-source project, the company emerged from a realization that the best approach to cybersecurity starts with network evidence. The founders, including Dr. Vern Paxson who began this work more than 25 years ago at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, understood that attackers can evade endpoint detection and firewalls, but they cannot avoid leaving digital footprints on the networks they traverse. This insight became the foundation for Corelight's mission to make evidence the heart of security. Today, Corelight is the fastest-growing Network Detection and Response (NDR) platform in the industry, trusted by some of the most sensitive, mission-critical enterprises and government agencies worldwide. The company's Open NDR Platform is uniquely powered by open source innovations including Zeek, Suricata, and YARA, combined with proprietary advances. Corelighters are united by a strong shared culture and values, building an organization that sustains open-source development while delivering enterprise-grade security solutions that help defenders proactively hunt for threats, accelerate incident response, and gain complete network visibility.

AB

Abound

In 2020, Abound was born from a realization by our co-founders Gerald Chappell and Michelle He, who spent years helping banks improve credit decisioning. They discovered that traditional lending systems were fundamentally broken - relying too heavily on single credit scores while ignoring the full financial picture. So they built something better: a platform that combines AI and Open Banking data to truly understand each applicant's unique financial situation. By looking at income, spending habits, and what customers can actually afford to repay, Abound makes fairer credit decisions that work for real people, not just algorithms. Since launching, we've issued over £1.5 billion in loans with market-leading credit performance - seeing 70% fewer defaults than industry benchmarks. Named the fastest-growing tech company in the UK by The Sunday Times, we've reached profitability just 2.5 years after launch. Backed by £2.2 billion from investors including Citi, GSR Ventures, and Deutsche Bank, we're expanding beyond direct lending to power white-label lending platforms for businesses. Our technology doesn't just make faster decisions; it makes smarter ones, helping more people access affordable credit while delivering sustainable growth.
