Lightship, founded in 2020, is an American company developing the country's first all-electric recreational vehicles. Headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, with an additional facility in South San Francisco, California, the company was established by alumni of Tesla. Its team focuses on automotive-grade engineering, aerodynamics, and proprietary propulsion systems to create sustainable outdoor travel solutions.
The company's inaugural product is the AE.1, described as the first purpose-built, aerodynamic, all-electric travel trailer. Key technical specifications include a battery capacity of up to 77 kWh and an integrated solar power system generating 1.8 kW. Lightship combines Silicon Valley technology development with American manufacturing, building every vehicle under one roof at its Colorado facility.
Lightship operates within the recreational vehicle industry with a focus on sustainable outdoor travel. The company has recently quadrupled its manufacturing capacity as it scales production of its electric trailers. Its engineering approach merges automotive-grade standards with the craftsmanship traditions of the RV sector.
